Initiated by Jecza Gallery, There Were Times I Wanted to Change the World is a large-scale group exhibition presented at PALTIM in Timișoara from 31 May to 13 July 2025. Curated by Diana Marincu, the exhibition brings together seven galleries from Romania and the Republic of Moldova—/SAC, Himera, Jecza Gallery, Lutnița, Mobius, Sector 1, and Suprainfinit—and features works by 26 contemporary artists. Developed as part of the Art Encounters Biennial 2025 Complementary Platform, the exhibition investigates the notions of the monstrous, the mirror as a metaphor for painting, and the simulacrum, inviting audiences to reflect on processes of visual construction, deconstruction, and transformation. Modernism highlights the exhibition as a significant collaborative initiative that reinforces dialogue between regional galleries and showcases the vitality of the contemporary art scene in Romania and the Republic of Moldova.
