Presented by Jecza Gallery at Scânteia+ in Bucharest, New Tenant | Sunshine Noir marks Marius Bercea's first solo exhibition in the Romanian capital in over two decades and the gallery's debut exhibition in Bucharest. Inspired by Eugène Ionesco's The New Tenant and curated by Tevž Logar, the exhibition transforms the former Scânteia printing house into an immersive environment where painting, installation, and scenographic elements converge. In an extensive interview published by ELLE Romania, Bercea reflects on the exhibition's conceptual origins, his expanded artistic vocabulary beyond painting, and his ongoing investigation of memory, architecture, post-socialist landscapes, and the relationship between Transylvania and California. The conversation offers insight into the artist's creative process and the ideas that underpin one of his most ambitious projects to date.
