There are rooms that shelter us and rooms that shape us. Over time, the spaces we inhabit begin to preserve our gestures, silences and desires, while the objects around us become part of how we understand ourselves. A Room of My Dreamsapproaches the interior as a space of memory, identity and imagination, asking a deceptively simple question: Could I live here, and who would I become if I did?
The exhibition transforms the gallery into an imagined domestic landscape where artworks and collectible design pieces coexist. The objects gathered here occupy a space between function, sculpture, design and image. They can be used and lived with, while carrying a presence that exceeds their practical purpose.
The exhibition also reflects on the evolving field of collectible design, where questions of authorship, craftsmanship, materiality and cultural value intersect with the history of the functional object. The trace of the hand, the singularity of materials and the relationship between an object and its surroundings become ways of thinking about how we inhabit space.
The title A Room of My Dreams evokes several literary and theoretical histories of the room as a space of consciousness. From Anne Sexton’s The Room of My Life to Truman Capote’s Other Voices, Other Rooms, the room repeatedly appears as a territory where memory, identity and desire take form. The title also recalls Roland Barthes’s La Chambre claire, where the room and the camera converge as spaces of looking, selection and memory.
Within the exhibition, art and design come together as different ways of intensifying the experience of living with objects. A chair can become sculptural, a table can acquire an architectural presence, and a seemingly decorative object can carry a story about the body, memory and time.
A Room of My Dreams brings together works by Radu Abraham, AÈ02, Crina Arghirescu Rogard, Michele Bressan, Abel Carcamo, Bogdan Ciocodeică for NUMBERED EDITION, Constantin Flondor, Cosmin Florea, Oláh Gyárfás, Șerban Ionescu, Florin Magda, Tincuța Marin, Sho Ota, Gheorghe Petrașcu, Bogdan Rața, Cristian Răduță, Marius Rițiu and Andrei Tudoran.
Rather than proposing an ideal interior, the exhibition imagines a possible one: a room in which objects become companions, witnesses and reflections of the lives that unfold around them.
