Genti Korini will represent Albania at 61st Venice Art Biennale

Jecza Gallery is delighted to announce that our represented artist, Genti Korini, will represent Albania at the 61st Venice Art Biennale in 2026 with his project A Place in the Sun.

Korini’s proposal was selected by an international jury composed of Adela Demetja, Katerina Gregos, Blanche de Lestrange, Elian Stefa, and Arnisa Zeqo, from among 17 applications submitted through an open call. The jury praised the project for the depth of its conceptual framework, the precision of its visual language, and its compelling fusion of archival research, folklore, and imagination.

“A Place in the Sun” explores the ways in which collective memory and ideology shape identity and space, weaving connections between Albania’s past and its entanglement with the broader Eastern European context. Developed in collaboration with curator Małgorzata Ludwisiak, the project establishes a rich visual and intellectual dialogue in conversation with Polish experimental theatre.

Operating at the intersection of fiction and historical reality, past and present, abstraction and representation, Genti Korini’s practice investigates how ideology manifests through image and form, engaging critically with the politics of aesthetics beyond the legacies of modernity and post-communism.
