Overview
Jecza Gallery Timisoara 12:00
We are happy to invite you Friday, March 21st, at 12:00, at Jecza Gallery Timișoara, for  a special guided tour of the exhibition "More real than nature" with curator Norbert Filep and several of the participating artists.

About the exhibition
“When Albers advocated for a supra-reality of abstract painting, the relationship between figurative image and pictorial space seemed already shaken at the foundations of the conventional logic of mimesis that had dominated painting until the early days of modernity. The historical avant-gardes dynamited the traditional perspectives of pictorial logic, overturning the relationship between the descriptive and the non-descriptive, between the figurative and the abstract, facilitating the emergence of directions in which form, color and the act of painting itself became autonomous strategies of thought, liberated from the academic conventions of representation.
Today this relationship has changed once again. Screen culture dominates physical space, while visual information flows through the immaterial infrastructure of the network. The expansion of representation appears to exceed our own physical senses through generative technologies that are becoming increasingly predominant.
More Real Than Nature follows the trajectory of the abstract perspective across multiple generations of artists, questioning to what extent a balance between the figurative and the abstract can be re-established within the new cultural climate amplified by the infusion of the digital.” - text by Norbert Filep
