Info

For the first time Deutsche Telekom supported the New Positions program at the ART COLOGNE 2014. The New Positions are held since 1980 with the endorsement of  Art Cologne and Bundesverband Deutscher Galerien und Kunsthändler. International young and upcoming artists get the chance to show their works in 25 m² stands next to their galleries. One presentation is honoured with the Art Cologne Award for New Positions. 19 artists participated in this years program. The award with a total value of 10.000 Euro consists of an exhibition at artothek - Raum für Junge Kunst in Cologne as well as an exhibition catalogue. This years laureate is artist duo FORT, Jenny Kropp (*1978) and Alberta Niemann (*1982).

Furthermore Deutsche Telekom presented two artists from the collection, the ACT - Art Colection Telekom. The small exhibition shown in the Art Digit displayed the video work Dance Company by Ali Kazma (*1971, Istanbul, Turkey) and two canvases, Abstract 11-11 and Abstract 12-15  by Genti Korini (*1979, Tirana, Albania). The choice gave an insight into the focus of ACT and the broad spectrum of media held in the collection, ranging from painting and drawing to time-based media like film and video art.  Besides the disparity of media both artists are connected through their interest of constructing images and their understanding of time. For Korini the pictorial and color space in its own spatial construction of surface and illusion and for Kazma the precise construction of cinematic settings .  The gradual unfolding of the image in Korini´s work and the rhythmic structure of Kazma´s cutting technique. Genti Korini who wants to redefine the pictorial space and Ali Kazma who delves into a precise and meticulous observation of reality.
